Lead2Feed Lesson 3: Leading People and Achieving Big Ideas

Envision. Plan. Achieve.

We are back with another installment of leadership lessons from the Lead2Feed program that helps students build leadership, teamwork and collaborative service skills, while "feeding" critical needs in their communities. In the process, students gain much more—they learn how to be self-aware, how to recognize and develop their strengths, and how they can contribute and lead in a team.

In Lesson 2, we learned that one of the most important things you can do as a leader is to always be learning. Being an avid learner is the single biggest thing that separates a good leader from a great one.

In Lesson 3, we’ll learn all about LEADING PEOPLE AND ACHIEVING BIG GOALS.

In this lesson, you will:

  1. Determine your BIG GOAL for your project as a team.

  2. Develop a PEOPLE MAP to identify individuals and groups you need to take with you to make your project successful.

  3. Define your VISION of what the future will look like when you achieve your BIG goal.

  4. Create an ACTION PLAN to define where you are going and how you will get there.

  5. Select a PARTNER—a non-profit organization to align with as you implement your project.

In the book Taking People With You, David Novak tells us “We know that effective leaders take time to create a vision and a clear plan before taking action.” This is how you move from just thinking about something to really taking action. Hear more from David Novak how to go after it.

We look forward to sharing more how this program changes teens and gives them a roadmap for effective service and personal growth. Keep following along!
